Part-Time (15 hr/week) Exceptional Children’s Teacher

The Exceptional Children Teacher believes in the mission of TESG and builds, shapes, and guides its implementation. He or she possesses the same characteristics as the General Education Teacher but has knowledge of the needs of children who require additional strategies and resources beyond what can be offered in the classroom. EC students will be integrated into grade level classrooms so the EC teacher will serve as a resource for those students as they participate in class activities. The EC teacher is flexible, knowledgeable, collaborative, and able to navigate the many legal and procedural aspects associated with the position. First and foremost, he or she creates a climate of love, compassion, and respect in the classroom so students feel safe to engage fully.

Qualifications: minimum 4-year degree in Special Education with certification and two years minimum experience in an elementary or middle school setting.

Duties:  working with general education teachers using inclusion practices; managing IEP caseloads and making sure all requirements are met; and ensuring appropriate services are contracted.

5th/6th Grade General Education Teacher (2 positions)

The General Education Teacher believes in the mission of TESG and builds, shapes, and guides its implementation. He or she possesses a broad knowledge base and perspective, and has the ability to integrate the curriculum from multiple disciplines to make learning engaging, relevant, and meaningful. First and foremost, he or she creates a climate of love, compassion, and respect in the classroom so students feel safe to engage fully.

Qualifications: minimum 4-year degree in education with a valid NC teaching license for the grade levels/subject teaching. 

Duties: working, with support of EC and ESOL inclusively with all children to implement planned lessons in their content areas; creating student portfolios and assessment narratives; holding a minimum of bi-annual conferences with each parent; making home visits at the beginning of the year for each student; following curriculum and required standards using while using experiential, PBL, arts-integrated, culturally-responsive methods. Preference given to candidates with dual certification in EC, ESOL or AIG.

Music Teacher

The Music Teacher believes in the mission of TESG and builds, shapes, and guides its implementation. He or she possesses a deep knowledge base and perspective, and has the ability to integrate their content specialty into multiple disciplines to make learning engaging, relevant, and meaningful. First and foremost, he or she creates a climate of love, compassion, and respect in the classroom so students feel safe to engage fully.

Qualifications: minimum 4-year degree in their content area with an NC k- 12 teaching license (preferred) or demonstrated remarkable knowledge in subject content, a 4-year degree, and a willingness to pursue Lateral Entry license.

Duties: working with general education teachers to integrate enrichment content into classroom instruction; providing specialized content instruction in their content area.
