We need you and your skills! Join our version of the PTO and help support TESG as we live out our mission. The TESG Community Collaborative is free to join. There are no elected officers and there are many opportunities to get involved that suit all talents and time commitments. The Collaborative is made up of working groups, each with a specific purpose or focus.
Working groups will have a standing meeting for organizing and planning on the 4th Thursday of each month from 5:30-6:30, but even if those meetings won’t fit your schedule, there will always be contributions that can be made beyond those planned sessions.

One Book, One School Club
Mary Cowhey’s Black Ants and Buddhists
Part of our TESG Community Collaborative is a book club designed to help families learn more about how and why we do what we do at TESG. Our first One Book, One School Club selection is Mary Cowhey’s Black Ants and Buddhists. At TESG, we ground our instruction in social justice and believe in teaching children to be critical thinkers and problem-solvers in their communities. This summer, all of our staff read Black Ants and Buddhists to get a better understanding of what that kind of teaching and learning looks like in the elementary classroom. Now we’d like to invite our families to read it, too!
Our first meeting of the One Book, One School Club will be Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6:00-6:30. See the meeting agenda above for more details.
For more information about the book and to purchase, visit amazon.com (don’t forget to purchase through your smile account!) or your favorite bookseller. If you need help finding a copy, please contact Ms. Moore.
